George Strait Performs In Raleigh

The king of country music, George Strait, performed in Raleigh Saturday night at the Time Warner Music Pavilion.

Opening up for him was Dancing with the Stars turned musician Julianne Hough. Julianne got the party started singing some of her songs and showing off a few of her dancing moves.

Next up was another country favorite, Blake Shelton. He sang a few fan favorites, giving the crowd a chance to warm up their vocal chords before they sing along to George Strait.

A highlight of Blake’s performance was when he began talking about how nervous he was about going on tour with “the King”. Blake talked about how he asked George for some advice on connecting with the audience and making the performance fun.

According to Blake, George said the way to make a performance fun is to sing songs that the fans can sing along to. So that’s exactly what Blake did.

“Here it goes…” said Blake. And with the strum of the guitar he sang:

“They say a man should always dress for the job he wants. So why am I dressed up like a pirate in this restaurant. It’s all because some hacker stole my identity…”

The crowd burst out in cheers, clapping along to the tune and there were a few (me included) that actually knew the words to the ad and sang along.

So Blake did his thing and off the stage he went. The stage crew went to work setting up for George’s set. And before we knew it, the house lights went black, the crowd began to cheer, ladies began to scream and out walked George Strait.

His performance was great. It had a perfect mixture of old fan favorites and some fresh stuff off his new album. And let’s face it, George has enough number one hits to last like three hours, which I think nobody would really mind, but George did make his roughly hour and a half performance well worth it and memorable.

Oh and one of the best parts of his performance: the shot of his behind on the big screen.

Great Job Erica, very well written!!!

I was there Saturday night and the show was wonderful! George packed in at least 27 songs in the show and they were all great! This was the 4th time I have seen him but the first time at an outdoor venue. I do like the comfort of being inside, but to see George, I didn’t mind being outdoors!

Blake and Julieanne were also great. They are both very talented and I think Julieanne can really go far if she gets the right songs. She has the voice and the personality.

Erica are you related to any Bustamente’s in Miami (from Columbus?) thanks for sharing these. I’ll see George next week in Chicago. Can’t wait.

Thanks Erica for the great review. I am seeing George this Saturday evening in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Hello everyone! Thank you for your comments! And those of you seeing George in the next couple of days, hope you enjoy his concert as much as I did. Make sure you come back and let me know what you thought about his concert!

Lena: No I’m not related to anyone from Miami or Columbus. My family is actually from Texas.

George is awesome. Thanks for the review. That part about Blake and the identity commercial is funny.

Great pics and review! I was there and yep the King was awesome as usual. This was my ninth GS concert and I’m getting ready to go to my 10th in Va. Beach in a couple of weeks. He’s the man and I love his wonderful voice. I will never get tired of hearing him sing and looking at his handsome face. Take care Strait fans!!!
