Scene Planned For One Tree Hill Upsets Locals
WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) – Plans by a North Carolina-based TV drama to shoot a scene showing someone jumping off a bridge during the morning rush hour has local officials hopping mad.
The Star-News of Wilmington reports that Wrightsville Beach Town Manager Bob Simpson says “One Tree Hill” wants to close the Causeway Drive bridge over Banks Channel from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Aug. 31.
Simpson said he was told that the N.C. Department of Transportation had already approved the request. He said closing the bridge would severely affect rush-hour traffic, including school buses. Access to and from the island would also be limited.
Greg Prange, executive producer at “One Tree Hill,” said he understands that the Causeway Drive bridge is very busy and shutting it down completely might not be realistic.
