Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried Greet Fans At “Dear John” Movie Premiere
When I received the press release about the movie premiere of Dear John starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried was going to take place I immediately thought “Yes!” One, because that’s right in my beat and two, cause Channing Tatum!
“Dear John” is a movie adaptation of the novel written by Nicholas Sparks and in the movie, the title character, played by Tatum, is a Special Forces soldier that falls in love with Seyfried’s character.
And for those that don’t know, the Special Forces team is based at Fort Bragg, N.C. So what better way to premiere the movie than on base?
Fans of Tatum, Seyfried, and Sparks began lining the red carpet since 10 a.m. for their chance to take a photo and get autographs. Only military personnel and their family members were allowed to attend the meet-and-greet and the showing.
After chatting with fans and posing for pictures the stars entered the York Theatre to welcome their fans and to receive the “Iron Mike” award presented by Lieutenant General Frank Helmick. The award was presented to commemorate their visit to Ft. Bragg and honor Tatum’s role as a Special Forces/Green Beret soldier.
Tatum said he was thankful to be a part of the movie and thanked those who serve in the military.
Here are some fast facts of the movie:
• The movie was shot in Charleston, S.C.
• The story is based in Wilmington, N.C.
• Amanda’s character “Savannah” is a college student at UNC-Chapel Hill
• Nicholas Sparks also wrote “A Walk To Remember”, “Nights in Rodanthe”, and “The Notebook” which all have ties to N.C. and S.C.
Be sure to catch the movie when it hits theaters on February 5. If you were at the premiere, have seen the movie, or just a fan, please share your comments and experiences below!
