Roller Disco Comes Back To Life In Xanadu

xan-3Whether you want to re-live memories of roller disco in the 80’s or you want to see what the heck your parents are talking about when they re-live those memories, you’ll want to make sure you catch Xanadu at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.

This musical is different from others around for several reasons. One, there is no intermission. This is a 90 minute show that is non-stop action; Two, there is on-stage seating for audience; Three, the characters are actually roller skating on stage!

So if that hasn’t enticed you yet to see the show and are wondering what’s the meat of the musical. Here it is: It’s a story of a Greek muse named Kira who is sent to Venice Beach, California. Her mission is to find Sonny, a struggling artist, and inspire him to create the first ever roller disco. But she falls in love with the mortal and her sisters take advantage of the situation.

And for some this title might ring a bell. Xanadu the musical is based on the cult classic movie Xanadu which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly.

Don’t let the cold weather moving into N.C. stop you from heading out. Broadway Series South officials say the show will go on, but if you have any concerns, feel free to give them a call at 831-6060. The show opens January 28 and runs through January 31.
