You May Have To Travel N.C. For Hairspray

hairsprayI’m not talking about the actual hair setting product. I’m talking about the musical. If you ever had the dream of watching Hairspray the musical live on stage, you may have travel around North Carolina to do so.

The Broadway smash hit will be in N.C. from February 24- March 1, but not at one place. The first performance will be held at the Durham Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

Usually broadway shows play at theatre’s for at least a couple of days, but one day is odd.

Hairspray is set in 1962 and follows Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad and her quest to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show (think of the show American Bandstand).

This big girl with big hair lands a spot on the show and is catapulted into fame. She uses her newfound stardom to defeat the reigning Teen Queen and to prove that anything you dream is possible.

If you can’t catch the show at the DPAC, the tour will make a stop in Wilkesboro on the 25th, Winston-Salem Feb. 26-27, Fayetteville on the 28th and Morganton on March 1.
