I can’t wait!! I’ll be there. It will be so great to hear Clay sing again. I am very excited for this concert!
Thanks for blogging about all the details!
This performance for PBS is an excellent way for Clay to start 2010. The album title is intriguing. Tried and True, TnT?
Im from michigan and a “tried and true” fan…so I hope to be there for this special event! I have visited Raleigh for other “clay” events, and have grown to love the area. See you there.
Thanks for this blog, Ms. Bustamante! This Chicagoan will be thrilled to see and hear what Clay has in store for us on March 12. Love the album/special title, too. It’s about time he was showcased on PBS in this way…he hasn’t been seen on there since A Capitol Fourth in 2004. Yes, too long.
This Raleighite and whole family are looking forward to seeing Mr. Aiken again. It seems like it’s been so long and he’s been missed by many here in Raleigh.
Congratulations Clay on the new cd. We can’t wait to get our hands on it.
Thank you Julia. I work for NBC17 in Raleigh and I write this entertainment blog for the station. We’re hoping he will grant us an interview and I will surely post that on here.
Thank you for your informative blog. Sure wish I was going to be able to make this performance. Since I can’t, I’m really looking forward to its airing on TV and buying the CD when it comes out!

Thank you for the blog and thanks to Clay’s hometown for hosting this event.
Wow!! This should be an impressive night. What an honor for Clay Aiken to be performing this concert for a nationally televised event! It will surely be a night to remember!

Thanks for this excellent blog. It’s breaking my heart that I’m not going to be able to get to Raleigh to attend this wonderful event. I love Clay and have followed him faithfully over the past 7 years. He’s an amazing entertainer and I’ll be looking forward to when I can see it on TV and, hopefully, he’ll be touring with his new CD. Can’t wait, I miss him!
I’ve never been to Raleigh before, but I’ll be traveling from Chicagoland to attend this exciting event. From what I’ve seen online, the venue looks lovely. I’m really thrilled about the chance to hear Clay in concert again!
I am so looking forward to this concert. It seems like ages since I saw Clay in concert. He is so entertaining on stage.
I am from Texas, and I am excited that I will be coming to Raleigh for this wonderful event! I hope that you get your interview with Clay. I think that you will find him as delightful as I do.
Thanks for the blog.
I can’t wait for the special to be aired on TV! A new label…new opportunities for him equals a win/win for US!
I’m from Texas too, and I’m heading to the beautiful city of Raleigh to see Clay for this very special event! I wouldn’t miss it, we’ve waited forever for this.
Looking forward to once again enjoying this talented witty man. Can’t wait to see him again “doing his thing” and getting his new CD which will be out possibly early summer. Way to go, Clay!
This time I’m one of the lucky ones who can just get in the car and drive 15 minutes. Can not wait to see and hear Clay again, it’s been way too long.
Erica, I hope you get your interview, and thanks for the blog! I’ve followed Clay all over the country in the last seven years, and this is going to be one of the most special nights of his career. I’m so thrilled that I’ll be there to share it with him and everyone.
I’ve been a fan of Clay’s from his A1 days. His voice is really good. I’ll be there. Tx for the awesome blog.
There are a bunch of us Claynadians who will be travelling to Raleigh for this momentous occasion in both Clay’s life and our lives.
Thanks for posting and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the interview for you.
Clay is a terrific singer, yes, you bet, and he is also a great entertainer and comedian. I am so happy that he is getting this opportunity to perform for a large audience, not only in Raleigh but on TV. Tried and True – a perfectly perfect title for the CD. It’s wonderful that he is bringing this event to Raleigh, his home town!!
Wish I could be there, but it’s not possible right now. I will be there in heart and spirit.
How exciting that our hometown idol will be performing for his fans and community for an upcoming PBS special. I’m looking forward to seeing Clay Aiken and hearing the new music that will be released on his new CD “Tried and True”. Thank you for this blog and I hope you get that interview.
My thanks to you Erica, for your VERY SPECIAL BLOG about Clay’s appearance March 12, at the Progress Energy Center in Raleigh, N.C. Beautiful music, beautiful lyrics, combined with an amazing vocal talent! Clay is the “ULTIMATE” ENTERTAINER!!!! I can’t wait for the forthcoming CD, “Tried & True”!
Thank you so much for this article. I won’t be able to get to the concert, but am looking forward to the airing on TV, and really really looking forward to the CD.
I’m flying out from the West Coast to attend! I can’t wait! And can’t wait to spend time in your beautiful city of Raleigh again!!!
I am so glad that I will be able to attend this event not only because Clay will be performing but also because I will be in your beautiful city once again. I’ll be flying in from Vancouver, Canada.
Thank you for this blog. I am so proud of our hometown boy and delighted that the citizens of Raleigh and the surrounding area have another opportunity to see how amazing Clay Aiken is.
I feel so lucky to be able to fly from California to see Clay is this very special concert.
I would imagine that those of you from the area must be very proud of what he has accomplished. And, I guess with the Gala in October and this concert in March, he does help the economy a bit!!
Thank you for posting about this event. I would imagine that Clay will be buried in requests for interviews and will choose those that have supported him for interviews. Seems a smart way to do it!!
Tho I can’t make the taping, I just think it’s so cool that Clay’s only been around for 7 years, yet he’s headlined or hosted 3 TV specials already! When’s somebody gonna give this guy his own show – he’s hilarious in concert! Will an SNL hosting gig be next? A Spamalot skit would tickle my fancy… hinthint, Mr. Michaels….
Thanks for the Blog. I won’t be in Raleigh, but can’t wait to see the special on PBS, I have followed Clay since the begining.
Looking forward to attending this event.
I always make it a point to visit Raleigh when Clay is appearing. I’m a long time fan.
Clay, thank you so much for making the excitement return! Being your fan has been a fantastic journey and I’m so happy for you. You’re madly talented and I can’t wait to attend your concert. This will be the “Second Chapter” in your long and brilliant career. I’m also flying into Raleigh from Southern California. You’re so worth it!
I am thrilled to be attending Clay’s March concert. Not only will I get to experience the VOICE again, but it’ll be interesting to see how a TV special is put together. However, I most likely won’t notice anything but Clay.;)
I sure wish I could go to this very special event, but I guess I have to wait for the CD and the DVD.
OMG….can’t believe I will have a chance to get two tickets to see this amazing performer on the 12th of March. He is the consummate voice in pitch, quality and emotion and an amazing entertainer. Too bad there aren’t more people around musically qualified to appreciate this type of talent.

Thanks Ms. Bustamante for a great blog. I am from Chicago as well but sadly can’t make it to Raleigh to witness Clay Aiken’s magical stage presence and performance! However, I will patiently wait for it to be on DVD/TV, if this indeed is going to be the PBS Special. Raleigh should be proud of their hometown boy because his fans are! Congratulations, Clay! You are truly SPECIAL!
This is an event. I attended Clay’s Benefit Gala last October, and know that we are furtunate to be hearing that uniquely beautiful voice once again, before the release of his new CD.
Fans are gathering from everywhere!
I cannot wait for this special to be aired on TV. He also has a new label and cd coming out…so it looks like 2010 is going to be a good year for Clay and his Fans. So excited!
Making my third trip to your lovely city to see Clay. This
It’s been far too long since we’ve see Clay Aiken in concert, so I’m really excited about this event.
Myself and a lot of Southern California fans are flying to Raleigh for March 12th! I am so excited for Clay and showcasing his voice for a PBS special is just great. This is certainly going to be a very important step in his career!! WONDERFUL
I’m from Oklahoma (Tulsa) & looking forward to being in Raleigh for this special performance & excited to bear Clay’s new music. Thanks for this great article.
I’m coming from Tulsa to Raleigh to see this special one time performance. Excited to hear Clay’s new music.
I live in the Raleigh area and am thrilled, as I’m sure Clay is, to find so many fans from all over planning to attend this special event in his home town. Can’t wait!
I am so excited about the show and so glad PBS decided to tape a show. It should raise lots of money, and we get to hear that extraordinary voice again! What a gift from God he has!!
My husband and I will make the trip from Washington,DC to see and hear Clay Aiken. We both think he has a beautiful voice and enjoyed his performance at the Capital Fourth in DC.
Can’t wait for March 12th. I am excited about the show and being able to see and hear Clay again, in person. Just driving down from Virginia Beach.
Ever since he has admitted is is gay, I just love him so much.
Didn’t care for him much before.
Clay – there will be many of us “coming out” to see you.
Just love you soooooooooooo much !!!!!
You represent the gay community well and you are the epitome of gay !
This is such an exciting time. The concert is going to be wonderful. Thank you for letting us know the details.
March 12th is going to be so much fun. Clay Aiken is so much fun to see in person. His voice is wonderful, but so is his personality and he puts on a great show.
I hope that those on Raleigh support Clay and his music. You are lucky to have such a talent in your midst.
Can hardly wait to see Clay Aiken in concert again. He is an incredible performer – great voice, fun audience interaction, quick witted, and easy on the eyes as well.
I’m really looking forward to this. So happy he is getting his own PBS special. It should be a wonderful event for all.
Erica, thanks for the article on Clay Aiken and his premiering of his new cd, Clay Aiken Tried and True. Nice to see his hometown supporting him.
The world is sick of this guy now. I don’t support him. He was on a talent show on TV. Big whoop. His career is over. Now let the crying and whining from all you “fans” begin over how much you hate me.
Not everybody loves him. I got tired of the media shoving him down our collective throats and just when we thought he was gone, here he comes again. Hey gay Clay, go to the stage in NY, where you belong.
Thank you for the wonderful article on one of my favorite performers. Clay has a fabulous voice and is an all-around entertainer. I am sure the concert will be a huge success.
Thanks for the article, Erica, and I’m hoping you can get an interview with Clay. (Try contacting Mary Brennan). He always provides a good interview.
Clay Aiken is a nice guy, a humanitarian, and a darned good singer. I’m excited about this concert and hope that he decides to tour this summer.
Thank you for posting this article. I’m local and hope I can get tickets before they are all sold out. I’ve enjoyed every concert of Clay’s that I’ve been able to attend. He’s a great singer.
So excited! I’m going to try for tickets tomorrow. If I get in I’m booking my flight from the West Coast. Wish me luck!
I am very much looking forward to seeing the PBS special when it is televised… It’s been a long time coming… Good things come to those who wait.
Smile though your heart is aching, smile even though it’s
almost breaking into pieces! You go, Clay! Gotta smile!
Unable to attend but will be waiting for the PBS Special!
Gotta have that DVD too!
I love the guys voice but honestly he should have been a stand up comedian. The combination of his talents makes for an entertaining show. I hope he lets his funny out and not try to play it too reserved for the cameras. Regardless, will be flying out from California to see this this entertaining guy in Raleigh.
I’m so happy to see that Clay will be in concert again. We will be there and ready for a great evening of music.
Saw Clay in Spamalot. Loved the show and he was very
good. Now I’m ready for this PBS special. Ready for
the VOICE.
I’m so happy Clay is getting a PBS special, that is a huuuuge deal that only the best entertainers might get! I love Clay and I will be looking forward for the airing of this special and hopefully there will be a DVD available! And I will buy the CD as soon as it is available of course!
So glad to hear Clay is finally back. I really missed seeing him in concert. Can’t wait to see him on PBS special. I do hope though, that if any mistake is made with his singing, they will redo it. I know they did this with many shows such as Jennifer Hudsons special. Just want to hear him sing everything perfectly.
Very disappointed about this venue. Poor acoustics, bad sightlines. Would be much better suited for Meymandi Hall. If you aren’t in Dress Circle or Orchestra, go ahead and content yourself with hearing the voice, and not seeing much of Clay, because Mezzanine, Balcony are horrible for seeing anything. The sides are particularly bad acoustically, and words will be hard to make out. Fair warning.
Rebecca…………I notice you are going from article to article saying the same thing. There has been no to back you up. I have attended concerts in the Memorial Auditorium and so have many of my friends. Each time the auditorium has been great for the concert.
It’s too bad you feel the need to say something negative……..over and over at each site you can find.
