N.C. Native Returns To Triangle In “Little House On The Prairie” Production

kevin masseyA UNC-Chapel Hill grad is returning to the Triangle, along side “Little House on the Prairie” star Melissa Gilbert, as part of the musical version of the popular television series.

Kevin Massey is playing the role of “Almanzo Wilder” and says he is glad to be back in his home state and back in the Triangle sharing his talents.

Although Massey had a love for music and the arts, while attending UNC, that wasn’t his plan in life.

“It was my plan to go to med school and be a small town practitioner,” said Massey who graduated with a minor in Chemistry.

The Black Mountain, N.C. native says being a recipient of the Morehead Scholarship is really what opened doors for him and allowed him to make his way to Chapel Hill and beyond.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for [the Morehead Foundation] so I’m totally grateful,” Massey said.

Massey says acting along side Gilbert has been enjoyable and she has some what become the matriarch of the group.

“Little House on the Prairie” is playing at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium until March 21.
