Local Auditions To Be Held For “Billy Elliot” Musical
Elton John’s musical “Billy Elliot” will be playing at the Durham Performing Arts Center in October, but until then, the shows casting director is seeking local boys and girls for parts in the show.
Open auditions will be held on June 5 and June 6 for boys and girls ages 9-12. Boys will audition on June 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the girls auditions will be held on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The auditions will be held at the Carolina Dance Theatre at 9101 Leesville Road in Raleigh.
Casting officials say all ethnicities are encouraged to attend and all those seeking to audition must bring photo, resume, sheet music to sing, as well as ballet, tap and jazz shoes. The audition is free and no fees are involved.
Girls audition requirements are as follows:
• Maximum height is 4’10”.
• Strong tap, good ballet and singing.
• Variety of sizes, shapes and types with expressive character and lots of personality are being sought.
• Girls should bring a recent photo, resume and sheet music to sing.
• Girls should wear dance clothes.
• They should bring ballet shoes, jazz shoes and tap shoes.
• All ethnicities are encouraged to attend.
Tickets to see “Billy Elliot the Musical” go on sale June 7 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased online, by calling (919)670-2787 or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
