NBC-17 Exclusive: Backstreet Boys Perform In Heat, Rain For Raleigh Fans

After a soft opening with local bands on Friday, Sunday night marked the first official concert at the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater.

Fans were so excited to see the Backstreet Boys that they even sat through rain to finish the concert.

Hours before the group took to the stage to become the first Live Nation act at the new venue, the Boys held a soundcheck for some of their fan club members.

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, and A.J. McLean braved Sunday’s heat to perform a few songs for their fans.

The guys also took time to speak with NBC-17 before hitting the stage. The boys talked about what it’s like to be in a band for 17 years and their thoughts about the new concert venue.

The videos aren’t working.

i was on the news in the back, great concert and i am prob. the only one who was there with hearing aids on and it wasn’t easy but i made it after all these yrs i have wanted to see them since they came into pop i was in love and main one will always be BRIAN! which i named my son Brian!

Loved it! Great interview Erica!

Well, I’m officially jealous, Erica. Waaaaaay cool! Awesome job on the interview. I’ve seen them in concert twice (in the early days). Both were amazing shows! There harmonies are still kickin’ today.

But, man, girl…I am jealous of you right now. How freakin’ cool! GREAT job!! :)

Backstreet Boys has got to be worst possible show to see. Did anyone actually go? Rain or not you could not get me to see them anywhere.

It’s time to bring in some real bands to make this place worth the investment. They kicked it off with no-name local groups and followed up with the Backstreet Boys . . . who’s putting this together???

I’m looking forward to Black Crowes, nonetheless.

I wish I had tickets to see their show. They are such awesome Artist

the raleigh ampitheater is the worst place i have been too. the venue is way too small and the lawn is even smaller. and a “designated” smoke area? kiss my a**. I hope this place closes so i never have to go through a concert there again.

(Jamie f) why are you on this site , go see nsync in concert then…oooops! iforgot they not together…LOTS AND LOTS OF CLOSET FANS HERE!! its called (justin) “opening acts” jobros opened up for bsb back in 2004-2005 and that got them famous…LOL. lots and lots of CLOSET fans here…KTBSPA <3

Backstreet Boy envy. Is it that we are an envy-ridden culture, or is it just envy of success?

Heck yes people went to see them! The place was sold out and packed to the brim. The amphitheater is really nice and spacious, and it was really nice once the sun went down with all of the lights from the building. So, don’t be haten on the new amphitheater or the Backstreet Boys! They were both awesome and enjoyable even in the rain.

Aww what a cute interview!! The show was INCREDIBLE, btw. I saw them in Atlanta as well (6/3/10), but the Raleigh show is my favorite of the 8 I have been to. No matter where life takes me, I will always <3 my Boys! KTBSPA!! =)
